Tank Capacity

Consider the following when selecting tank capacity.

Can I get discount on full loads of fuel ? What is a "full load" ? (7-10,000 gallons)

What is your throughput (usage) ?

How long does it take to get fuel delivered ?

5% is lost in the top of the tank on overfill prevention and 5% from the bottom as the pump is set above the water and debris zone.

Is the fuel going to sit for more than 6 months ? (Consider using additives)

Codes limit single tank capacity to 12,000 gallons on diesel and 6,000 gallons on gasoline. Variances must be sought for larger tanks.

Manifolding separate tanks is another option. (This is not the Smart way to do it though)

Compartment tanks are also available. Gas/Diesel requires a dual bulkhead. A 2,000 gallon compartment is minimum (need room for tank top fittings). Compartment tanks also change the foundation planning.
